Keeping your warehouse inventory accurate and organized is the backbone of efficient fulfillment. For teams managing products with expiration dates or lot tracing requirements, maintaining the integrity of those lots is even more critical. Mixing different lots in a single location—without a system in place for lot stacking—can lead to picking errors, expiration tracking nightmares, and difficult cycle counts.
We have added a Lot Stack Warning pop-up that triggers during both Inventory Receiving and Inventory Moves. This new feature acts as a second pair of eyes, ensuring your warehouse team is fully aware of the state of a location before they commit stock to it.
Benefits to You
- Prevent Accidental Mixing: It stops users from mindlessly adding new inventory to a bin that already contains older or different stock, helping you adhere to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) strategies.
- Inventory Purity: It encourages keeping locations “pure” (containing only one specific lot), which streamlines picking and quality control.
- Immediate Feedback: The warning appears instantly on both the Web Interface (WMS) and the Warehouse Gun Interface, ensuring your team is covered regardless of the device they are using.
How it Works
When a user attempts to receive or move a product that is set up for Lot Tracing into a location where that same SKU is already present, the system will now pause the transaction and display a warning alert.
The alert explicitly identifies the Lot Number you are moving and the destination location, asking for confirmation before proceeding.
The Alert in Action:
If you try to move a specific lot into an occupied bin, you will see a message similar to this:

You are about to move Lot: #1234 for SKU: ‘PRODUCT-1’ into location ‘AA1’ which already contains this product. Do you want to continue?
What do I need to do?
This feature is designed to be unobtrusive but effective. If you encounter the warning, you have two choices:
- Continue: If you intend to stack the inventory (for example, if you are topping off a bin with the same lot or if your storage rules allow commingling), simply click Continue to proceed with the transaction.
- Cancel: If you selected the wrong location or didn’t realize the bin was occupied, click Cancel to stop the move and select a different destination.
