Did You Know You Can Limit Co-op Fund Usage on Specific Products?

Max Coop Usage is a new feature that gives you granular control over how marketing funds are utilized for specific items in your catalog.

Previously, if a user had a sufficient Co-op balance, they could apply those funds to cover the entire cost of an order. While this is often desired, there are scenarios where you may want the user to share the cost or where you want to stretch marketing budgets further by only subsidizing a portion of high-value items.

With the new Max Coop Usage setting, you can now set a percentage limit on how much of a product’s subtotal can be paid for using Co-op funds.

Benefits to the client

  • Ensure Cost Sharing: Require users to pay a portion of the product cost out-of-pocket (via credit card or other methods) for specific items.
  • Stretch Marketing Budgets: By limiting Co-op coverage on expensive items, you ensure that funds remain available for a wider volume of orders or other marketing initiatives.
  • Clear User Communication: The system automatically notifies users of these limits while they shop, displaying “Coop eligible for up to X%” on product pages and in the cart.

How It Works

This control is managed at the individual part level. To set a limit:

  1. In the back end, navigate to Parts and select the product you wish to edit.
  2. In the Basic Settings section, locate the field labeled Max Coop Usage.
  3. Enter a whole number to represent the percentage of the product price that can be covered by funds (e.g., enter “50” to allow Co-op to pay for 50% of the item).
    • Note: If left blank, the system defaults to 100%, meaning no restriction is applied.
  4. Click Save.

The User Experience

Once configured, the restriction is calculated based on the product’s subtotal (before shipping and tax).

For example, if you set a product’s Max Coop Usage to 30% and the product costs $100:

  • The user can use Co-op funds to pay for $30 of that product.
  • The remaining $70 must be paid via another method.
  • Note: Co-op funds can still be used to cover 100% of the associated shipping, handling, and taxes for the order.

To ensure clarity, users will see the message “Coop eligible for up to [X]%” in the Product Details, the Cart, and on the final Checkout page. The system will automatically enforce this limit when the user attempts to apply their funds.
