Finding the right file in a growing digital asset library shouldn’t mean digging through every folder by hand or sorting through unrelated results. The Digital Assets page now includes its own search bar that searches the folder you’re currently viewing, so you can pinpoint the asset you need without leaving the DAM.
Until now, the only way to search for DAM files was the portal’s global search bar, which returns results from your entire product library and the DAM. The new in-module search gives you a faster, more focused option when you already know roughly where an asset lives.
Benefits to You
- Find files faster by searching right where you’re working, with no need to switch to the global search bar.
- Narrow results by location — searches are limited to the folder you’re currently drilled into, so results from other parts of the DAM don’t get in the way.
- Search by name or keyword — the search matches both file names and keywords, so assets turn up even when you don’t remember the exact file name.
- Keep your place while you search, since you stay in the DAM instead of jumping to a portal-wide results page.
How It Works
Searching within a DAM folder
- Click Digital Assets in the portal menu.
- Use the folder tree on the left to navigate to the folder you want to search.
- Enter your search term in the Search bar above the file grid and click Search.
- Review the results. Only files in the folder you’re currently viewing are returned.
- Click Clear to reset the search and see the folder’s full contents again.
Searching the entire DAM from the portal
The portal’s global search bar, located in the main menu bar at the top of the page, is still available when you want to search beyond a single folder:
- Enter your search term in the global Search bar and click the magnifying glass.
- Results are separated into two categories: Products and Files.
- Filter the results to show only Files if you want to see just DAM results.
Important Notes
The DAM search looks only at the folder you’re currently viewing and does not include results from within subfolders. If the folder you’re viewing contains other folders, a search will match the names of those folders, but not the files inside them. To search a specific subfolder, open it first and then search. To search across the whole DAM at once, use the global search bar.
Which Search Should I Use?
- DAM search bar: Best when you know which folder an asset is in, or when you want to limit results to a specific folder.
- Global search bar: Best when you’re not sure where an asset lives, or when you want to search your product library and the DAM at the same time.
